Simulations of Aerodynamic Damping for MEMS Resonators

open access: yes39th AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference, 2009
Aerodynamic damping for MEMS resonators is studied based on the numerical solution of Boltzmann-ESBGK equation. A compact model is then developed based on numerical simulations for a wide range of Knudsen numbers. The damping predictions are compared with both Reynold equation based models and several sets of experimental data.

Pendulum with aerodynamic and viscous damping

open access: yesJournal of Applied Information, Communication and Technology, 2020
In this paper we discuss about how the relationship between non-linear differential equations on aerodynamic damping with linearly viscous damping equations. And it turns out after analyzing that the changes that occur pendulum that changes from the start of the maximum state to a stable state takes time so that changes that occur until the state is ...

Along-Wind Aerodynamic Damping of Wind Turbine Towers: Determination by Wind Tunnel Tests and Impact on Tower Lifetime

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
As wind turbines become larger and their towers more slender, aeroelastic effects play a bigger role in the wind turbine’s dynamic behavior. This study focuses on the along-wind aerodynamic damping of wind turbine towers, which has been determined by ...

Structural Analysis of a Dragonfly Wing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Dragonfly wings are highly corrugated, which increases the stiffness and strength of the wing significantly, and results in a lightweight structure with good aerodynamic performance.

A linear systems analysis of the yaw dynamics of a dynamically scaled insect model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent studies suggest that fruit flies use subtle changes to their wing motion to actively generate forces during aerial maneuvers. In addition, it has been estimated that the passive rotational damping caused by the flapping wings of an insect is ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Coleman-free aero-elastic stability methods for three- and two-bladed floating wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
An accurate prediction of aerodynamic damping is important for floating wind turbines, which can enter into resonant low-frequency motion. The Coleman transform is not directly valid for the stability analysis of two-bladed floating wind turbines without

Machine Learning Based Sensitivity Analysis of Aeroelastic Stability Parameters in a Compressor Cascade

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power, 2021
Aeroelastic instabilities such as flutter have a crucial role in limiting the operating range and reliability of turbomachinery. This paper offers an alternative approach to aeroelastic analysis, where the sensitivity of aerodynamic damping with respect ...

Enabling Digital Continuity in Virtual Manufacturing for Eco‐Efficiency Assessment of Lightweight Structures by Means of a Domain‐Specific Structural Mechanics Language: Requirements, Idea and Proof of Concept

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a solver‐agnostic domain‐specific language (DSL) for computational structural mechanics that strengthens interoperability in virtual product development. Using a hierarchical data model, the DSL enables seamless exchange between diverse simulation tools and numerical methods.
