Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Investigation of wheelhouse shapes on the aerodynamic characteristics of a generic car model

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2021
As vehicle speed increases, the aerodynamic drag reduction becomes increasingly significant. The aim of this paper is to find out the effects of the wheelhouse shapes on the aerodynamics of an Ahmed body with a 35 slant angle. In this paper, based on the

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Aerodynamic Effects of Corrugation on Dragonfly Hindwing

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2019
To study aerodynamic performance of the dragonfly wing at gliding flight at different Reynolds numbers, a three-dimensional model of the dragonfly hindwing with corrugation and a three-dimensional flat plate with the same shape of the dragonfly hindwing ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Joint sensitivity analysis method of impeller aerodynamic performance to key geometric errors of five-axis machine tool

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
As a high-performance workpiece, an impeller must ensure both dimensional accuracy and aerodynamic performance. A five-axis machine tool has various geometric errors, which seriously influence the impeller processing quality, hence it is crucial to ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Quantification of airfoil geometry-induced aerodynamic uncertainties - comparison of approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Uncertainty quantification in aerodynamic simulations calls for efficient numerical methods since it is computationally expensive, especially for the uncertainties caused by random geometry variations which involve a large number of variables. This paper
