Three small, cryptic plasmids from Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida A449

Plasmid, 2003
The nucleotide sequences of three small (5.2-5.6 kb) plasmids from Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida A449 are described. Two of the plasmids (pAsa1 and pAsa3) use a ColE2-type replication mechanism while the third (pAsa2) is a ColE1-type replicon. Insertions in the Rep protein and oriV region of the ColE2-type plasmids provide subtle differences

Direct analysis of starved Aeromonas salmonicida

Journal of Fish Diseases, 1996
AbstractSurvival of Aeromonas salmonicida was monitored during prolonged incubation in either distilled water or lake water. Culturability was determined from colony forming units enumerated on tryptone soy agar, whilst flow cytometry was used for direct analysis of viable cells after staining with fluorescent dyes which differentially stained bacteria

Aeromonadaceae Representative (Aeromonas salmonicida)

2012
Aeromonas salmonicida is a significant pathogen of salmonids, and in its atypical form has spread into cyprinids and marine flatfish. Although Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida is homogeneous, atypical isolates are more heterogeneous and do not fit into the current subspecies classification. Questions about the ecology of the organism remain but

RAPD analysis of Aeromonas salmonicida and Aeromonas hydrophila

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1995
The randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to analyse the genetic differentiation of 13 strains of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida , and seven strains of Aer.

Optimization of a plasmid electroporation protocol for Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida

Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2014
Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida is a major fish pathogen. Molecular tools are required to study the virulence and genomic stability of this bacterium. An efficient electroporation-mediated transformation protocol for A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida would make genetic studies faster and easier.

Characterization of Atypical Aeromonas salmonicida Different Methods

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 1998
Fifty two isolates of atypical Aeromonas salmonicida, recovered from a wide range of hosts and geographical locations, were heterogeneous in terms of molecular and phenotypic characteristics, and represented taxa which could not be accommodated by the current classification of four subspecies.

Structural studies of the core region of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida lipopolysaccharide

Carbohydrate Research, 2006
The core oligosaccharide structure of the in vivo derived rough phenotype of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida was investigated by a combination of compositional, methylation, CE-MS and one- and two-dimensional NMR analyses and established as the following: [carbohydrate: see text] where R=alpha-D-Galp-(1-->4)-beta-D-GalpNAc-(1--> or alpha-D ...

The molecular biology of Aeromonas salmonicida

Annual Review of Fish Diseases, 1995
Abstract The fish pathogen, Aeromonas salmonicida, has been the focus of a number of molecular genetic studies designed to characterize the microorganism and its pathogenesis. The paracrystalline surface protein layer (A-layer) of A. salmonicida has been studied in considerable detail. The A-layer gene, vapA, has been cloned and sequenced and studies

AEROMONAS SALMONICIDA INFECTIONS IN SALMONIDS

2013
Management of furunculosis remains a considerable clinical challenge, in part due to their ability to cause disease in the different salmonids, both in the culture systems and in the wild environment. Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida is a rapidly spreading pathogen associated predominantly with skin infections in the salmonids with high ...
