Identification of new Classical Ae stars in the Galaxy using LAMOST DR5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We report the first systematic study to identify and characterize a sample of classical Ae stars in the Galaxy. The spectra of these stars were retrieved from the A-star catalog using the Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) survey.

Metabolic Consequences of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may have metabolic disruption, which can contribute to adverse long‐term outcomes, for multiple reasons. Patients with RA appear to have a higher risk of sarcopenia, type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. Systemic inflammation in RA can cause a “lipid paradox,” with reduced low‐

Identification and Characterization of AES-135, a Hydroxamic Acid-Based HDAC Inhibitor That Prolongs Survival in an Orthotopic Mouse Model of Pancreatic Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive, incurable cancer with a 20% 1 year survival rate. While standard-of-care therapy can prolong life in a small fraction of cases, PDAC is inherently resistant to current treatments, and novel ...

Colchicine Concentrations and Relationship With Colchicine Efficacy and Adverse Events: Post Hoc Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial of Colchicine for Gout Flare Prophylaxis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Our objective was to examine the relationship between colchicine plasma concentrations and clinical and demographic factors and to determine the relationship between colchicine concentrations and colchicine efficacy and colchicine‐specific adverse events.

Investigation of changes in the composition of anodic TiO2 nanotubes at different stages of formation by AES and TOF SIMS methods

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2022
The article presents comprehensive studies of the chemical composition and morphology of nanotubular anodic TiO2 layers at the first stages of the porous structure nucleation, by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Auger spectroscopy (AES), time-of ...

Listen to What You Want: Neural Network-based Universal Sound Selector [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Being able to control the acoustic events (AEs) to which we want to listen would allow the development of more controllable hearable devices. This paper addresses the AE sound selection (or removal) problems, that we define as the extraction (or suppression) of all the sounds that belong to one or multiple desired AE classes.

On the Transferability of Adversarial Examples between Encrypted Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Deep neural networks (DNNs) are well known to be vulnerable to adversarial examples (AEs). In addition, AEs have adversarial transferability, namely, AEs generated for a source model fool other (target) models. In this paper, we investigate the transferability of models encrypted for adversarially robust defense for the first time.

The design of the SAFE or SORRY? study: a cluster randomised trial on the development and testing of an evidence based inpatient safety program for the prevention of adverse events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Patients in hospitals and nursing homes are at risk of the development of, often preventable, adverse events (AEs), which threaten patient safety.

Murine Models and Human Cell Line Models to Study Altered Dynamics of Ovarian Follicles in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The manuscript examines preclinical murine and human models to study polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), delving into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying altered ovarian follicular dynamics. It explores the cellular interactions involved in normal and PCOS ovaries and outlines the current and novel strategies in the search for preclinical ...
