Linguistic model of affinity grouping to the study of poverty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The problem of getting an homogeneous group of elements linked to various kinds of fuzzy relations is presented often in several decision areas. It is possible to solve it by applying the affinity concept that allows grouping items that meet certain ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Affinity- and Format-Dependent Pharmacokinetics of 89Zr-Labeled Albumin-Binding VHH Constructs

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background/Objectives: NANOBODY® molecules (VHHs) are attractive vectors for radiopharmaceuticals due to their small size and high target affinity, but rapid clearance and pronounced kidney retention limit their therapeutic applicability.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Phosphoproteome analysis of mouse liver using immobilized metal affinity purification and linear ion trap mass spectrometry

open access: yes, 2004
Since protein phosphorylation is a dominant mechanism of information transfer in cells, there is a great need for methods capable of accurately elucidating sites of phosphorylation.

Biophysical and NMR analysis reveals binding affinity between HAX1 and CLPB proteins

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance Letters
HCLS1-associated protein X-1 (HAX1) is a multifunctional mitochondrial protein involved in the regulation of apoptosis, a crucial process of programmed cell death, and mRNA processing.
