Immunomodulatory and Cytotoxic Properties of Enniatin B1 in Porcine Alveolar Macrophages
ABSTRACT This study investigates the immunomodulatory effects of Enniatin B1 (ENNB1), an emerging mycotoxin, on porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs), a species‐specific model relevant to human innate immunity. PAMs were exposed to increasing ENNB1 concentrations (0.5–6 μM) over 6, 24, and 48 h.

ABSTRACT Aristolochia species have long been used in traditional medicine for their presumed anti‐inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties. However, extensive toxicological and epidemiological evidence now demonstrates that these plants contain aristolochic acids (AAs) I and II, highly potent nephrotoxic, genotoxic, and carcinogenic ...

Aflatoxin Contamination in Hazelnut Oil Obtained from Hazelnuts Containing High Levels of Aflatoxin
In this study, the issue of whether the aflatoxin in high contaminated hazelnut has been passed to the hazelnut oil during production or not has been investigated. The oil and oil cake of the hazelnut samples that contained aflatoxin at a high level were

Abstract Background The proliferation of invasive aquatic macrophytes poses a significant ecological challenge globally, while many tropical regions face chronic shortages of affordable livestock feed. This study addresses this dual problem by assessing two invasive species, water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes ...

The use of edible insects in human food
Abstract The world population is expected to reach approximately 10 billion people by 2050, which will significantly increase global food demand and may lead to agricultural shortages and a higher risk of food insecurity. In this context, this review discusses the potential of insects as alternative sources of animal protein, addressing their ...

Modelling a two-dimensional spatial distribution of mycotoxin concentration in bulk commodities to design effective and efficient sample selection strategies [PDF]
Mycotoxins in agricultural commodities are a hazard to human and animal health. Their heterogeneous spatial distribution in bulk storage or transport makes it particularly difficult to design effective and efficient sampling plans.

Comparative analysis of fungal microbiomes in Korean and Chinese chili pepper powders
Abstract BACKGROUND Chili pepper powder plays a crucial role in kimchi fermentation; however, its use may result in fungal contamination. Therefore, analyzing its mycobiome is vital to maintain quality control standards. In this study, we used internal transcribed spacer (ITS)2 amplicon sequencing to compare fungal communities in commercially available
