Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Karyotype analysis and variability of Ag-NOR in Crassostrea angulata (Lamarck, 1819) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Genetic characterization of oyster species is the basis of future breeding programmes by chromosome manipulation. We determined the karyotype of Crassostrea angulata (Lamarck, 1819), and found some differences with regard to previously published reports.

Histological investigation of physiologically resorbing primary teeth using Ag-NOR staining method

open access: yes, 2002
Objective. The aim of this study was to investigate pulpal tissue of primary teeth in early and late stages of physiological resorption by means of silver-binding nucleolar organizer region (Ag-NOR) staining. Study design. Ten primary teeth in early, ten

Nucleolar organizer regions and a new chromosome number for Rhea americana (Aves: Rheiformes)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 1998
Sequential banding analysis (Giemsa-C-banding-Ag NOR) of chromosomes of the common rhea (Rhea americana) was performed. Metaphases were obtained by peripheral blood lymphocyte culture and monolayer embryo cell culture.

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

The karyotype of three Brazilian Terrarana frogs (Amphibia, Anura) with evidence of a new Barycholos species

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2009
A recent substantial rearrangement of the 882 described eleutherodactyline frog species has considerably improved the understanding of their systematics. Nevertheless, many taxonomic aspects of the South American eleutherodactyline species remain unknown

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles
