P7.13 THE P22PHOX -640A/G POLYMORPHISM OF NADPH OXIDASE ADVERSELY AFFECTS ENDOTHELIN LEVELS BUT NOT PERIPHERAL AND CENTRAL PRESSURES IN HEALTHY, YOUNG, NORMOTENSIVE INDIVIDUALS

open access: yesArtery Research, 2009
Purpose: The NADPH oxidase system produces superoxide in the vessel wall and its -640A/G polymorphism is associated with coronary artery disease incidence in young individuals. We investigated the role of this polymorphism on peripheral/aortic pressures (

Cutaneous Phosphorylated Alpha‐Synuclein in Lewy Body Dementia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the test performance of cutaneous phosphorylated alpha‐synuclein (P‐SYN) in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), individuals with reduced Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and healthy controls. Methods This is the first subgroup analysis of the Synuclein‐One study, a prospective, blinded study evaluating P‐SYN detection ...

Cytogenetic Variability of European Tettigoniinae (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae): Karyotypes, C- and Ag-NOR-banding

open access: yesFolia Biologica, 2005
Karyotypes, C-banding pattern and localization ofnucleolus organizer regions (NORs) in 34 European species and subspecies belonging to the subfamily Tettigoniinae are described (the karyotypes of 26 species for the first time). In the males chromosome numbers vary from 2n=33 to 2n=23 and Fundamental Numbers (FN) from 36 to 27.

Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

Allozyme and cytogenetic analysis in two species of Hypostomus (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from the Paraguai River basin, Brazil: occurrence of B microchromosome and intrapopulation heterochromatic polymorphism in H. boulengeri [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology
Hypostomus is distributed by Central and South America basins, with diverse species with taxonomic conflicts. This way, the integration of auxiliary techniques contributes to understanding the systematics and phylogeny of the group.
