The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Divine Love and the Argument from Divine Hiddenness [PDF]
This paper criticizes one of the premises of Schellenberg’s atheistic argument from divine hiddenness. This premise, which can be considered as the foundation of his proposed argument, is based on a specific interpretation of divine love as eros. In this

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Charles Darwin was unimpressed by the natural theology of his time, owing to his observations of suffering in nature and, famously, the particularly elegant viciousness of parasitoid wasps (Ichneumonidae). Presented here is a theological reflection, from

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Theory of pixel lensing towards M31 I: the density contribution and mass of MACHOs
POINT-AGAPE is an Anglo-French collaboration which is employing the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) to conduct a pixel-lensing survey towards M31. In this paper we investigate what we can learn from pixel-lensing observables about the MACHO mass and ...
