Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

The Threefold Nature of Desire and Its Implications for Ethics and Theology

open access: yesReligions
The study distinguishes three principal forms of desire: bodily desires, desires for perfection, and desires entailed in value-responses. By distinguishing between the self-centered, acquisitive desires for perfection and the inherently self-transcending

Friendship in the Economy of the Church (Reflections of Fr. Pavel Florensky) [PDF]

open access: yesВестник Свято-Филаретовского института, 2016
The present paper is a study of the notion of friendship (or philic love) as viewed by Pavel Florensky in his work The Pillar and Ground of the Truth. The notion of friendship is Florensky’s response to the theory of the ascetic eros seen as a path to ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Love, Anger, and Racial Injustice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Luminaries like Martin Luther King, Jr. urge that Black Americans love even those who hate them. This can look like a rejection of anger at racial injustice.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dyadisches Coping und Partnerschaftszufriedenheit bei verschiedenen Liebesstilen

open access: yesJournal of Family Research, 2015
In the last forty years, many attempts were made to approach the complexity of “love” as a research topic. In 1973, Lee developed a typology of six different love styles: Eros (passionate love), Ludus (game-playing love), Storge (friendship love), Pragma

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.
