Mondo complexes regulate TFEB via TOR inhibition to promote longevity in response to gonadal signals
Removal of the C. elegans germline substantially increases organismal lifespan. Here, Nakamura et al. show that the transcription factors MML-1 and MXL-2 coordinate this process in that they reduce TOR signalling and increase autophagy by regulating ...

On March 19, 2008 a Symposium on Pathophysiology of Ageing and Age-Related Diseases was held in Palermo, Italy. The lecture of D. Mari on Hemostasis and ageing is summarized herein. Physiological ageing is associated with increased plasma levels of many proteins of blood coagulation together with fibrinolysis impairment. This may be of great concern in

Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

Morphology and mechanical properties of nanocrystalline Cu/Ag alloy [PDF]
Hybrid Monte Carlo (MC)/molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are conducted to study the microstructures of nanocrystalline (nc) Cu/Ag alloys with various Ag concentrations. When the Ag concentration is below 50 Ag atoms/nm!, an increase in Ag concentration leads to a gradual growth of monolayer grain boundary (GB) complexions into nanolayer complexions.

The human Na+/H+ antiporter NHA2 transports Na+ or Li+ in exchange for protons across cell membranes, and its dysfunction results in various pathologies, e.g., fertility disorders, hypertension, or diabetes. This work provides the molecular characterization of interactions of NHA2 with its specific inhibitor phloretin, which can be helpful for the ...
