Roquin-1 resolves sepsis-associated acute liver injury by regulating inflammatory profiles via miRNA cargo in extracellular vesicles

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Sepsis-associated acute liver injury (SALI) is an independent risk for sepsis-induced death orchestrated by innate and adaptive immune responses.

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Non‐Coding RNAs in Breast Cancer Radioresistance: Mechanisms, Functional Roles and Translational Potentials

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Non‐coding RNAs (ncRNAs) regulate breast cancer radioresistance via cell cycle, DNA repair and tumour microenvironment pathways. Targeting ncRNAs (e.g., HOTAIR and miR‐155) with RNA‐based therapies (ASOs and CRISPR) shows promise but faces delivery challenges.

Deep Sequence Analysis of AgoshRNA Processing Reveals 3’ A Addition and Trimming

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2015
The RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, in which microprocessor and Dicer collaborate to process microRNAs (miRNA), was recently expanded by the description of alternative processing routes. In one of these noncanonical pathways, Dicer action is replaced by

Ligand‐specific tuning of CLEC10A signalling strength and dendritic cell responses through engagement of different GalNAc‐containing glycan structures

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The authors investigated the effects of various glycan ligands for CLEC10A, a lectin receptor expressed on dendritic cells (DCs). Monocyte‐derived DCs were stimulated with glycan‐conjugated dendrimers in combination with the TLR1/2 ligand Pam3CysK4, and responses were investigated at the mRNA and protein level.

Design of antiviral AGO2-dependent short hairpin RNAs

open access: yesVirologica Sinica
The increasing emergence and re-emergence of RNA virus outbreaks underlines the urgent need to develop effective antivirals. RNA interference (RNAi) is a sequence-specific gene silencing mechanism that is triggered by small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs), which exhibits significant promise for antiviral therapy. AGO2-dependent

MicroRNA‐Induced Gene Silencing (MIGS): A Tool for Multi‐Gene Silencing and Targeting Viruses in Plants

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since its discovery, RNA interference (RNAi, also known as gene silencing) has been a key tool to downregulate gene expression in plants for a range of applications, including protection against viruses. Many of these applications require the silencing of multiple genes concomitantly.

Characterising the Transcriptomic Response to Interferon and Infection in European Domestic Ferret Respiratory Tissues Using Long‐Read RNA Sequencing

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 177, Issue 2, Page 299-316, February 2026.
We utilised long‐read Nanopore sequencing to characterise the transcriptome of ferret cell lines stimulated with IFN‐α as well as nasal turbinates from ferrets infected with influenza A virus. We identified novel genes and isoforms and observed elongation of poly(A) tails in the ribosome and Coronavirus Disease‐19 pathways in response to IFN‐α ...
