Leaf size variations in a dominant desert shrub, Reaumuria soongarica, adapted to heterogeneous environments

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 10, Issue 18, Page 10076-10094, September 2020., 2020
The variations in leaf size along environmental gradients within the species range of Reaumuria soongarica were investigated. Our study shows that there are significant differentiations of leaf size and environmental conditions between genetic lineages in this species.

Phylogeny and morphological evolution of the Chenopodiaceae-Amaranthaceae alliance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Phylogenetic analysis of plastid encoded ndhF coding sequences for the Chenopodiaceae-Amaranthaceae alliance reveals a monophyletic Chenopodiaceae-Amaranthaceae clade sister to Achatocarpaceae. The Chenopodiaceae-Amaranthaceae-Achatocarpaceae clade is in

Land Use and Land Cover Classifications of Horqin Sandy Land Dune-Meadow Areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
In this study, we determine land use/land cover (LULC) types using only optical remote sensing data in a dune-meadow area of Horqin Sandy Land in northeast China. We used 64 Sentinel-2 remote sensing images from 2018.

Characteristics of Energy Distribution in a Desert Ecosystem in Inner Mongolia, Northern China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Desert ecosystems are vulnerable to climate change because of their fragile environment and poor self-regulation ability. Exploring the land–surface energy balance and the water/heat transfer processes of such regions for water resource management ...

Advancing phylogenomics in Amaranthaceae sensu stricto: Development and application of a new nuclear target enrichment bait set

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 13, Issue 5, September-October 2025.
Abstract Premise Current phylogenies of Amaranthaceae sensu stricto (s.s.) are inadequately sampled and resolved to reflect the entire evolutionary history of the lineage, which is likely complex due to at least three whole‐genome duplication events, occasionally followed by subsequent additional polyploidization events and rapid diversification of ...

Warming modulates soil multifunctionality through assembly processes and co‐occurrence patterns of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities in drylands

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 9, Page 2251-2267, September 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Climate warming poses a threat to the functionality of global dryland ecosystems, where arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) communities play a critical role in maintaining ecosystem stability and functioning.

Rhinoclactones A-E, Resorcylic Acid Analogs from Desert Plant Endophytic Fungus Rhinocladiella similis

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Seven resorcylic acid lactones (RALs) including five new analog rhinoclactones, A–E (1, 2, 4–6), were isolated from an endophytic fungus Rhinocladiella similis in the plant Agriophyllum squarrosum collected from the Tengger Desert of the ...
