IgG3 collaborates with IgG1 and IgA to recruit effector function in RV144 vaccinees

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2020
While the RV144 HIV vaccine trial led to moderately reduced risk of HIV acquisition, emerging data from the HVTN702 trial point to the critical need to reexamine RV144-based correlates of reduced risk of protection.

Development and evaluation of DNA vaccines in chickens against a wild bird H6N2 avian influenza virus from Western Australia

open access: yes, 2010
Genetic immunization, also known as DNA or polynucleotide immunisation, is well documented to induce broad-based immunity in various animal models of infectious and non-infectious diseases.

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

How does the impact of an HIV/AIDS information campaign vary with educational attainment ? Evidence from rural Uganda [PDF]

open access: yes
The responsiveness to information is thought to be one channel through which education affects health outcomes. The author tests this hypothesis by examining the effectiveness of an information campaign that aims at preventing the HIV/AIDS epidemic in ...

The marginal willingness-to-pay for attributes of a hypothetical HIV vaccine

open access: yes, 2012
This paper estimates the marginal willingness-to-pay for attributes of a hypothetical HIV vaccine using discrete choice modeling. We use primary data from 326 respondents from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2008–2009, selected using purposive ...

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

Advantages of Broad-Spectrum Influenza mRNA Vaccines and Their Impact on Pulmonary Influenza

open access: yesVaccines
Influenza poses a significant global health challenge due to its rapid mutation and antigenic variability, which often leads to seasonal epidemics and frequent outbreaks.

Tumor‐Derived Exosomes Deliver Membrane‐Bound Fgl2 to Activate FcγRIIB‐Mediated Immunosuppression in Myeloid‐Derived Suppressor Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the Fgl2‐FcγRIIB signaling axis is a key mechanism by which MDSCs mediate tumor immune evasion. Tumor‐derived exosomes systemically activate MDSCs via this pathway, positioning this axis as a promising broad‐spectrum target for cancer immunotherapy.

Clinical studies of experimental vaccines

open access: yes, 2006
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review is to provide the current status of HIV vaccine clinical development. A series of issues regarding the type of immune response stimulated by the candidate vaccines in the pipeline, the advances in the immune ...
