Repeated instillations of bleomycin in male mice induce a perivascular remodeling at distance of fibrotic areas in the context of progressive pulmonary fibrosis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
We established a model of progressive pulmonary fibrosis via repeated intratracheal instillation (ITI) of leomycin (BLM) (A). Perivascular remodeling was observed in areas distant from the fibrotic areas and lesions induced by repeated ITI of BLM simulate those observed in IPF patients (B). Thus, this model has the capacity to track and investigate the

Acute toxicity of ADB‐CHMINACA ‐ a case series of patients with pronounced central nervous symptoms including the posterior reversible encephalopathic syndrome

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim This report presents a series of 16 patients who were admitted to the emergency department following confirmed intake of the potent synthetic cannabinoid ADB‐CHMINACA. Methods The cases are drawn from a prospective observational study following the recreational use of synthetic cannabinoids.

Comparative Study Between the Effect of Airway Pressure Release Ventilation and Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Arts
Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome [ARDS] is a serious illness with a high fatality rate and a bleak prognosis. Mechanical ventilation [MV] is now regarded as one of the best methods for treating ARDS.

Safety and pharmacokinetics of mosliciguat, a new, inhaled soluble guanylate cyclase activator, in healthy adult subjects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Mosliciguat (BAY 1237592), the first soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) activator in a dry powder inhaler (DPI), could potentially treat pulmonary hypertension with a more targeted delivery than systemic sGC stimulators. We report safety and tolerability of mosliciguat in healthy men.

Compliant hydrogel cuff coating with real‐time pressure monitoring and antibiofilm capabilities for ventilator‐associated pneumonia prophylaxis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A soft‐compliant hydrogel cuff coating combines real‐time pressure monitoring with intrinsic antibacterial activity for prophylaxis of ventilator‐associated pneumonia. A flexible pressure‐sensing patch is embedded in the coating to enable wireless dynamic monitoring of endotracheal cuff pressure through Bluetooth.

All India Difficult Airway Association 2016 guidelines for the management of unanticipated difficult tracheal intubation in obstetrics

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2016
The various physiological changes in pregnancy make the parturient vulnerable for early and rapid desaturation. Severe hypoxaemia during intubation can potentially compromise two lives (mother and foetus). Thus tracheal intubation in the pregnant patient

Biomarkers of lung congestion and injury in acute heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 781-789, April 2025.
Abstract Acute heart failure (AHF) classification and management are primarily based on lung congestion and/or hypoperfusion. The quantification of the vascular and tissue lung damage is not standard practice though biomarkers of lung injury may play a relevant role in this context.

Airway pressure release ventilation. The ventilatory strategy in chest trauma

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Anestesiología y Reanimación, 2018
Introduction: Thoracic trauma is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The costal volet with pulmonary contusion overshadows the prognosis Objective: To present a ventilatory strategy to stabilize the chest wall, correct hypoxemia and protect ...

Effect of exercise‐related nasopharyngeal disorders on upper airway function in racehorses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Exercise‐related upper respiratory tract (URT) disorders are frequently diagnosed in racehorses. Treatment recommendations are routinely based on subjective assessment of clinical evaluation and exercising endoscopy findings. Objectives To objectively investigate how palatal instability (PI), intermittent dorsal displacement of the ...

Effects of flow‐controlled expiration on oxygenation and early recovery in horses undergoing general anaesthesia

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background FLow‐controlled EXpiration (FLEX) has been shown to significantly enhance oxygenation in horses under clinical and experimental conditions. Objectives To compare pulmonary gas exchange during early recovery following general anaesthesia in horses ventilated with FLEX compared with conventional intermittent positive pressure ...
