Mechanical properties and microstructural characterization of a novel 316L austenitic stainless steel coating on A516 Grade 70 carbon steel weld

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The aim of this work is to characterize properties and microstructure of AISI 316L stainless steel used as a coating on welding of carbon steel sheets. Two carbon steel plates were set as the metal base and the stainless steel coating was applied on the ...

Creep Performance of Stainless Steel 316 Brackets: Insights From Conventional and Advanced Modeling Approaches

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Creep behavior of SS 316 brackets is examined through experiments, conventional creep laws, and advanced constitutive modeling. Long‐term deformation, stress redistribution, and life prediction are compared under service‐relevant loads. The study highlights the limits of classical models and demonstrates improved accuracy using advanced approaches for ...

Effects of Thermal Aging on Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of AISI 317L Steel Weld Metal in the FSW Process [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2015
The AISI 317L grade is an austenitic stainless steel with high Mo content (3.0 wt% min.). Due to the higher pitting resistance, this grade has replaced AISI 316L steel in many applications where the corrosion resistance is a critical property.

Thermomechanical Validation of an Additively Manufactured Test Chamber for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Atomization in Jet‐In‐Crossflow Conditions

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, Volume 415, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to validate the structural and thermomechanical reliability of an additively manufactured test chamber specifically designed for the experimental investigation of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) atomization under jet‐in‐crossflow (JICF) conditions representative of gas turbine afterburners. The proposed test chamber is designed

Micro‐Mechanism Informed Neural Networks for Process‐Property Prediction in Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 158-179, June 2026.
Hard physics embedding, where neural networks learn residuals relative to analytical baselines, substantially outperforms soft loss‐function constraints for extrapolation in LPBF process–property prediction. Physics integration architecture determines generalization capability more than constraint quantity.

Biomaterial Studies on AISI 316L Stainless Steel after Magnetoelectropolishing [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel), 2009
The polarisation characteristics of the electropolishing process in a magnetic field (MEP – magnetoelectropolishing), in comparison with those obtained under standard/conventional process (EP) conditions, have been obtained. The occurrence of an EP plateau has been observed in view of the optimization of MEP process.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
