Plasma hepcidin level is elevated by water immersion‐induced central fatigue via hepatic inflammatory response in male and female rats

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 15, August 2025.
Abstract Fatigue is a subjective phenomenon caused by physical or mental overexertion; however, its objective biomarkers specific to the types of fatigue remain unclear. Here, we examined whether plasma hepcidin levels, which are regulated by inflammation or iron metabolism, are elevated by peripheral and central fatigue in male and female rats.

Interleukin‐33 and liver natural killer cells: A novel perspective on antitumor activity in liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology Research, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 115-129, January 2025.
Our study revealed a critical relationship between liver fibrosis and compromised tumor immunity, emphasizing the potential interference of interleukin‐33 with natural killer cell function. These insights advocate for advanced immunostimulatory therapies targeting cytokines, such as interleukin‐33, aiming to bolster the hepatic immune response against ...

Nucleocapsid protein structures from orthobunyaviruses reveal insight into ribonucleoprotein architecture and RNA polymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
All orthobunyaviruses possess three genome segments of single-stranded negative sense RNA that are encapsidated with the virus-encoded nucleocapsid (N) protein to form a ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, which is uncharacterized at high resolution.

Whole‐Genome Sequencing and Structure Study of Three Biting‐Insect–Associated Viruses (Yunnan Orbivirus, Guangxi Orbivirus, and Yongshan Totivirus) Isolated in Yunnan, China

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Yunnan Province is an area in China with a major prevalence of biting arthropods (including mosquitos, ticks, and Culicoides) and arboviruses including dengue virus (DENV), bluetongue virus (BTV), and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV). Therefore, attempts to isolate and detect arboviruses are frequently conducted in Yunnan during the past ...
