Interactions between the endocrine and immune systems in locusts [PDF]
The prophenoloxidase cascade in the haemolymph of mature adult Locusta migratoria migratorioides (R & F) is activated in response to injection of laminarin, a -1,3 glucan.

A quantitative study of adipokinetic hormone of the firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus [PDF]
The development of an enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) for the adipokinetic neuropeptide hormone, Pya-AKH, from the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus L. is described. The ELISA measures as little as 20 fmol of Pya-AKH.

The adipokinetic hormone family in Chrysomeloidea: structural and functional considerations
The presented work is a hybrid of an overview and an original research paper on peptides belonging to the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) family that are present in the corpora cardiaca of Chrysomeloidea.

Sex differences in whole-body fat storage exist in many species. For example, Drosophila females store more fat than males. Yet, the mechanisms underlying this sex difference in fat storage remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a key role for

Adipokinetic hormone enhances nodule formation and phenoloxidase activation in adult locusts injected with bacterial lipopolysaccharide [PDF]
Interactions between the locust endocrine and immune systems have been studied in vivo in relation to nodule formation and activation of the prophenoloxidase cascade in the haemolymph.

Adipokinetic hormone enhances laminarin and bacterial lipopolysaccharide-induced activation of the prophenoloxidase cascade in the African migratory locust, Locusta migratoria [PDF]
Lom-AKH-I enhances the activation in vivo of prophenoloxidase in the haemolymph of the African migratory locust, Locusta migratoria, in response to challenge with laminarin.

The impact of disruption of adipokinetic hormone (AKH) signaling was studied during aging in Drosophila in a sexually dimorphic manner. A mutant (Akh1) producing a non-functional AKH peptide was compared with isogenized wild-type controls (w1118), and ...

The corpora cardiaca of the Indian stick insect, Carausius morosus, synthesize two decapeptide neuropeptides of the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) family, both of which can increase the trehalose levels in the hemolymph when the stick insect is ligated ...
