Liver Dysfunction in Hypothyroid Non-Pregnant Women

open access: yesAnnals of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Karachi Medical & Dental College, 2018
Objective: To evaluate the effects of under secretion of thyroid hormones and its  relation  with  liver markers i.e. alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) in non-pregnant women.

Protocol TOP-Study (tacrolimus organ perfusion): a prospective randomized multicenter trial to reduce ischemia reperfusion injury in transplantation of marginal liver grafts with an "ex vivo" tacrolimus perfusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Critical organ shortage results in the utilization of extended donor criteria (EDC) liver grafts. These marginal liver grafts are prone to increased ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) which may contribute to deteriorated graft function and ...

High aspartate transaminase/alanine transaminase ratio predicts poor prognosis in patients with localized upper tract urothelial cancer: a propensity score-matched study in a large Chinese center

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2019
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the aspartate transaminase/alanine transaminase (AST/ALT) ratio in a large Chinese cohort surgically treated for localized upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) using propensity ...

On the flexibility of the cellular amination network in E coli

open access: yeseLife, 2022
Ammonium (NH4+) is essential to generate the nitrogenous building blocks of life. It gets assimilated via the canonical biosynthetic routes to glutamate and is further distributed throughout metabolism via a network of transaminases.

beta-Chloro-L-alanine inhibition of the Escherichia coli alanine-valine transaminase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1985
beta-Chloro-L-alanine, an amino acid analog which inhibits a number of enzymes, reversibly inhibited the Escherichia coli K-12 alanine-valine transaminase, transaminase C. This inhibition, along with the inhibition of transaminase B, accounted for the isoleucine-plus-valine requirement of E. coli in the presence of beta-chloro-L-alanine.
