Albendazole metabolism in patients with neurocysticercosis: antipyrine as a multifunctional marker drug of cytochrome P450

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2002
The present study investigates the isoform(s) of cytochrome P450 (CYP) involved in the metabolism of albendazole sulfoxide (ASOX) to albendazole sulfone (ASON) in patients with neurocysticercosis using antipyrine as a multifunctional marker drug.

Development of RP‐HPLC Method for the Simultaneous Quantitation of Levamisole and Albendazole: Application to Assay Validation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
A reverse phase high‐performance liquid chromatographic (RP‐HPLC) method was developed and validated for simultaneous estimation of levamisole and albendazole in drug substance and in its combinational dosage form. The analysis was carried out using Inertsil ODS C18 (4.6 x 150 mm, 5 μm) column, and the separation was carried out using a mobile phase ...

A single adulticide dose of albendazole induces cytochromes P4501A in mouflon (Ovis musimon) with dicrocoeliosis

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2007
Contact handling with wild or semi-domesticated animals requires limiting animal stress to minimum. In this respect, single administration of drug should be preferred in contact therapy of mouflon (Ovis musimon) infected by lancet fluke (Dicrocoelium ...

Albendazole Degradation Possibilities by UV‐Based Advanced Oxidation Processes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Pharmaceuticals are present in an aquatic environment usually in low (ng/L) concentrations. Their continuous release can lead to unwanted effects on the nontarget organisms. The main points of their collection and release into the environment are wastewater treatment plants.

Solvent‐Controlled, Catalyst‐Free Aerobic Photooxidation of Thioethers to Sulfoxides at 370 nm

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 40, October 27, 2025.
Solvent‐controlled; catalyst‐free aerobic photooxidation converts thioethers (sulfides) to sulfoxides using ultraviolet (UV) light from a 370 nm light‐emitting diode (LED) under O2. Protic solvents—2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol (TFE) and ethanol—give up to 100% selectivity and easy isolation. Mechanistic probes support a singlet‐oxygen (1O2) pathway.

A close examination of BCRP's role in lactation and methods for predicting drug distribution into milk

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 13, Issue 11, Page 1856-1869, November 2024.
Abstract Breastfeeding is the most complete nutritional method of feeding infants, but several impediments affect the decision to breastfeed, including questions of drug safety for medications needed during lactation. Despite recent FDA guidance, few labels provide clear dosing advice during lactation.

Activity of oxantel pamoate monotherapy and combination chemotherapy against Trichuris muris and hookworms : revival of an old drug [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: It is widely recognized that only a handful of drugs are available against soil-transmitted helminthiasis, all of which are characterized by a low efficacy against Trichuris trichiura, when administered as single doses.

Differential toxicities of albendazole and its two main metabolites to Balb/c 3T3, HepG2, and FaO lines and rat hepatocytes

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2016
Introduction: The cytotoxicity of anthelmintic agent, albendazole (ABZ) and its two major metabolites, sulfoxide (ABZSO) and sulfone (ABZ-SO2), on non-hepatic Balb/c 3T3 line, two hepatoma cell lines (FaO, HepG2), and isolated rat hepatocytes was ...

Lymphatic Filariasis Control in Tanzania: Effect of Six Rounds of Mass Drug Administration with Ivermectin and Albendazole on Infection and Transmission. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Control of lymphatic filariasis (LF) in most countries of sub-Saharan Africa is based on annual mass drug administration (MDA) with a combination of ivermectin and albendazole, in order to interrupt transmission. We present findings from a detailed study
