DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

Green tea powder supplementation increased viscosity and decreased lysozyme activity of egg white during storage of eggs from Huainan partridge chicken

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2020
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether green tea powder (GTP) addition could affect egg quality and egg storage. Eggs were collected after 12 weeks of feeding from control and GTP treatment groups of Huainan partridge hens.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Changes in the antimicrobial potential of egg albumen during the early stages of incubation and its impact on the growth and virulence response of Salmonella Enteritidis

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2012
The antimicrobial activity of egg albumen has been widely documented. However, the changes of chemical nature and antimicrobial activity of egg albumen and the way it controls bacteria during incubation period were not well understood up to now.

Sulfanilic acid-modified chitosan mini-spheres and their application for lysozyme purification from egg white [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A cation exchange matrix with zwitterionic and multimodal properties was synthesized by a simple reaction sequence coupling sulfanilic acid to a chitosan based support. The novel chromatographic matrix was physico-chemically characterized by ss-NMR and ζ

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Relationship of temperature and length of storage on pH of internal contents of chicken table egg in humid tropics [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2016
All foods have limited shelf life which vary depending on the food and storage conditions. Table eggs are perishable food and storage temperature is an important factor that affects the shelf life.

Comparison of Physicochemical and Functional Properties of Chicken and Duck Egg Albumens

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2019
The aim of this research was to investigate the physicochemical and functional properties of fresh and pasteurized chicken and duck egg albumens. The results showed that pasteurization of both chicken and duck albumens significantly decreased (p≤0.05 ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Observations on the physiological development of trout eggs [Translation from: Roux. Arch. f. Entwicklungsmechanik der Organismen, 114. 771, 1929] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1929
The osmotic pressure of the perivitelline fluid and the yolk of trout (Salmo trutta) eggs were measured separately by the Drucker-Schrein method. The permeability of the egg membrane and the variations in the osmotic pressure of the eggs when placed in ...
