Calcinosis Cutis and Delayed‐Onset Myositis in a Case of Suspected Localized Scleroderma: A Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenge

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 16‐year‐old girl presenting with calcinosis cutis and localized scleroderma subsequently developed delayed‐onset idiopathic inflammatory myopathy five years after initial skin involvement. Despite the absence of typical dermatomyositis features and negative myositis‐specific antibodies, whole‐body MRI revealed extensive subclinical muscle ...

Mice have a transcribed L-threonine aldolase/GLY1 gene, but the human GLY1 gene is a non-processed pseudogene

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2005
Background There are three pathways of L-threonine catabolism. The enzyme L-threonine aldolase (TA) has been shown to catalyse the conversion of L-threonine to yield glycine and acetaldehyde in bacteria, fungi and plants.

Strong Cross‐Reactivity of Anti–Plasmodium falciparum pLDH Monoclonal Antibodies With Plasmodium malariae pLDH in the Abbott Bioline Malaria Ag P.f/P.f/P.v Rapid Diagnostic Test

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aimed to describe the cross‐reactivity of the Abbott Bioline Malaria Ag P.f/P.f/P.v rapid diagnostic test, designed to detect Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax, with other Plasmodium species, based on the detection of parasite lactate dehydrogenase enzymes.

RAGE Re‐Expressed at Myofibre Level Drives Muscle Wasting in Cancer Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia (CC) is a highly debilitating syndrome characterized by loss of body and muscle weight affecting most advanced cancer patients. The receptor for advanced glycation end‐products (RAGE) is expressed by several cell types and sustains the inflammatory response in acute and chronic diseases. Total ablation of RAGE (Ager−/

Association mapping for hop cone chemistry and morphology identifies natural beneficial allele stacks

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Efforts are underway to increase the efficiency and precision of selection hop (Humulus lupulus L.) breeding using genomics. Little is known, however, about the genetic control of important traits like α‐and β‐acids contents, oil content, and cone morphological characteristics, all of which play an important role in determining the utility and

Synthesis of Chiral Acyclic Pyrimidine Nucleoside Analogues from DHAP-Dependent Aldolases

open access: yesBiomolecules
Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP)-dependent aldolases catalyze the aldol addition of DHAP to a variety of aldehydes and generate compounds with two stereocenters.

Quantitative Muscle Magnetic Resonance Imaging Demonstrates Resolution of Muscle Edema in Refractory Dermatomyositis: A Post Hoc Analysis of a Proof‐of‐Concept Clinical Trial of Tofacitinib

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
Objective To evaluate changes in muscle edema using short‐tau inversion recovery (STIR) imaging and quantitative diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping in patients with refractory dermatomyositis (DM) treated with tofacitinib. Methods This post hoc imaging analysis included patients from a 12‐week, open‐label

A BioLiving Periosteum Evokes Centripetal Regeneration in Challenging Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
Large bone defects often suffer from insufficient central healing. This study engineers a BioLiving periosteum that mimics the native structure. It sequentially delivers remote chemical cues and contact physical cues in a signaling‐relay manner, effectively recruiting and guiding endogenous cells toward the defect center.
