To overcome the bottleneck of inefficient xylose utilization in lignocellulosic bioethanol production, we constructed a recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain (INVSc‐xylA‐Xltr1p‐TKL1) by overexpressing the transketolase gene TKL1. This engineering strategy significantly enhanced xylose consumption by 33%, upregulated xylose isomerase (xylA ...

Sugar Alcohols, Caries Incidence, and Remineralization of Caries Lesions: A Literature Review
Remineralization of minor enamel defects is a normal physiological process that is well known to clinicians and researchers in dentistry and oral biology. This process can be facilitated by various dietary and oral hygiene procedures and may also concern dentin caries lesions.

Abstract Flavor contributes significantly to consumer preferences of cooked sweetpotato. Sugars largely drive the sweet taste, while the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), mainly classified as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and terpenes, provide characteristic aromas and influence the overall perception of flavor.

Facile Enzymatic Synthesis of Ketoses and Chemoenzymatic Reporter Strategy for Probing Complex Glycans [PDF]
Of all possible ketoses, only D-fructose occur large scale in nature. Therefore, all the ketoses with the exception of D-fructose are defined as “rare ketose”.

GnuR Represses the Expression of Glucose and Gluconate Catabolism in Pseudomonas putida KT2440
In this work, we found that both glucose and gluconate can significantly induce the expression of catabolic enzymes of glucose and gluconate metabolism and the four related transcription factors including GnuR in Pseudomonas putida KT2440, a prime chassis for biotechnology.

Extraction, purification and analysis of thermal stability of xylose isomerase [PDF]
Thermostable enzymes are the enzymes which active even at high temperatures, such enzymes are industrially as well as biochemically very important. Xylose isomerase (EC 5.3.1.5) is one such enzyme with suitable commercial applications.

Application of Transketolase from Geobacillus stearothermophilus for Broad Synthesis of N-Arylhydroxamates and Development of a Novel High-Throughput Reactivity Assay [PDF]
In nature, transketolase (TK, EC 2.2.1.1) catalyzes the reversible and stereospecific transfer of a C2-ketol moiety to the carbonyl end of a variety of aldehydes.
