Acetylation Regulates ACSL4 Degradation Through Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagy to Alleviate Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intervertebral disc degeneration is triggered by ACSL4 accumulation‐mediated ferroptosis of nucleus pulposus cells due to CMA dysfunction. KAT2B promotes ACSL4 degradation via CMA through acetylation. AAV‐mediated LAMP2A delivery or engineered exosomes rescue nucleus pulposus cell senescence and disc degeneration.

RECQ1 expression is upregulated in response to DNA damage and in a p53-dependent manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sensitivity of cancer cells to DNA damaging chemotherapeutics is determined by DNA repair processes. Consequently, cancer cells may upregulate the expression of certain DNA repair genes as a mechanism to promote chemoresistance.

SLC2A3‐Mediated Lactate Metabolism Promotes Lung Cancer Bone Metastasis by Modulating P53 Lactylation and Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC2A3 derived lactate promotes metastasis through p53 lactylation at K120 and osteoclast differentiation. Pharmacological inhibition of SLC2A3 upregulates PD‐1 expression on CD8+ T cells via lactate induced p53 lactylation, which modulates immune evasion. ABSTRACT Bone metastasis is a devastating consequence of lung cancer.

Dual Chemical Looping/Catalytic Process for Alkylation of Benzene With Ethane and Propane Yielding Ethylbenzene and Cumene Over Copper‐Containing Mordenite

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a dual chemical looping/catalytic process coupling alkane dehydrogenation with aromatic alkylation over Cu‐mordenite, yielding up to 25% alkylated aromatics with >95% selectivity per cycle. In situ NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and DFT show alkylation proceeds via a π‐bound Cu(I)–olefin intermediate and Brønsted acid sites.

O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) Promoter methylation is a rare event in soft tissue sarcoma

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2012
Background Gene silencing of O6-methylguanine–DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) by promoter methylation improves the outcome of glioblastoma patients after combined therapy of alkylating chemotherapeutic agents and radiation.

Carcinogenicity of Alkylating Agents [PDF]

open access: yesPublic Health Reports (1896-1970), 1966
T O A CHEMIST interested in carcinogenesis, one of its fascinating aspects is the great variety of chemicals that after being administered to a test animal can lead to cancer. Some very simple molecules, that is, carbon tetrachloride or diazomethane, are carcinogenic in certain species of animals while in others only complex structures are cancer ...
