Reductive alkyl–alkyl coupling from isolable nickel–alkyl complexes
NatureThe selective cross-coupling of two alkyl electrophiles to construct complex molecules remains a challenge in organic synthesis1,2. Known reactions are optimized for specific electrophiles and are not amenable to interchangeably varying electrophilic substrates that are sourced from common alkyl building blocks, such as amines, carboxylic acids and ...

By substituting an ER3- unit (E = Group 13 element) or E'R3+ (E' = Group 15 element) for CR3 one gets to methyl isosteres, compounds analogous to alkyls and isoelectronic or iso-valence-electronic to them. The substituent charge can be used to stabilize countercharged aromatic systems; some compounds of this type are known.

Alkyl-Dihydroxyacetonephosphate Synthase
Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1997The initial steps of ether phospholipid biosynthesis take place in peroxisomes. Alkyl-dihydroxyacetonephosphate synthase, the peroxisomal enzyme that actually introduces the ether linkage, has been purified from guinea pig liver in this laboratory.

Alkylation‐Terminated Catellani Reactions Using Alkyl Carbagermatranes
Angewandte Chemie, 2020AbstractThe Catellani reaction has received substantial attention because it enables rapid multiple derivatization on aromatics. While using alkyl electrophiles to achieve ortho‐alkylation was one of the earliest applications of the Catellani reaction, ipso‐alkylation‐terminated reactions with β‐H‐containing reactants has not been realized to date ...

With the approval of mechlorethamine by the FDA in 1949 for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, alkylating agents are the oldest class of anticancer agents. Even though their clinical use is far beyond the use of new targeted therapies, they still occupy a major place in specific indications and sometimes represent the unique option for the ...

Analysis of alkyl phosphates by extractive alkylation
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1981The development of suitable methods for analysis of the alkyl phosphate metabolites of organophosphorus pesticides in urine has been a rather d i f f i cu l t and persistent problem. Currently available methodology (BRADWAY et al. 1977; LORES & BRADWAY 1977; SHAFIK et al. 1973) suffers from several shortcomings.

Iron‐Catalyzed Alkyl–Alkyl Suzuki–Miyaura Coupling
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2012Magnesium tetraalkylborates prepared from olefins, BH3·Me2S, and iPrMgCl under optimized conditions are coupled with various primary and secondary alkyl bromides to give the corresponding long-chain alkanes including fatty acid derivatives.
