Formal Synthesis of the Akuammiline Alkaloid (±)‐Strictamine via a (4 + 2) Annulation Reaction With a Donor–Acceptor Cyclobutane

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, EarlyView.
We report a concise formal synthesis of (±)‐strictamine via a silylium‐catalyzed (4 + 2) annulation of a donor–acceptor cyclobutane, achieved in 13 steps from tryptamine. ABSTRACT The akuammiline alkaloids are complex monoterpene indole natural products with a rigid cage‐like architecture and diverse biological activities.

Dietary essential oils modulate post‐mortem oxidative damage in trout fillets exposed to slaughter stress during frozen storage

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Slaughter is a critical phase in aquaculture that can severely compromise both animal welfare and product quality. Stress responses triggered during this stage may accelerate post‐mortem biochemical degradation and promote oxidative damage in fish fillets. Essential oils, known for their antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory properties,

Stimuli‐Responsive 3D‐Printed Structurally Colored Materials Based on Core–Shell Particle Architectures

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel, structurally colored and pH‐responsive filament for FDM 3D‐printing is presented, which is based on tailored core–shell particles with methacrylic acid as a comonomer in the particle shell. The pH‐responsiveness of the printed objects is achieved due to particle swelling in alkaline conditions.

Bio‐Based Epoxy Resins from Estragole: Achieving High Glass Transition Temperatures Comparable to DGEBA and Simultaneously Low Viscosities

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Two novel bio‐based epoxy monomers, diglycidyl‐4‐allylphenol (DG‐4A) and triglycidyl‐diallylphenol (TG‐DA), derived from estragole (92% and 72% bio‐content), were synthesized and cured with isophorone diamin (IPDA) and 4,4´‐diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS). The resins show high Tgs, with DG‐4A reaching and TG‐DA exceeding DGEBA‐based systems. These resins
