ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

CO2 and O2 removal during continuous veno-venous hemofiltration: a pilot study

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2019
Background Carbon dioxide (CO2) accumulation is a challenging issue in critically ill patients. CO2 can be eliminated by renal replacement therapy but studies are scarce and clinical relevance is unknown.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

On a Class of Almost Difference Sets Constructed by Using the Ding-Helleseth-Martinsens Constructions

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
Pseudorandom binary sequences with optimal balance and autocorrelation have many applications in stream cipher, communication, coding theory, etc. It is known that binary sequences with three-level autocorrelation should have an almost difference set as their characteristic sets.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Quality of Domotic Goods

open access: yesEIRP Proceedings, 2019
This article is a study focusing on an important area of appliances we inevitably use almost daily and which has a tendency of renewal, diversification and quality improvement – that is the television set.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.
