Plant alpha-amylase inhibitors and their interaction with insect alpha-amylases.

Insect pests and pathogens (fungi, bacteria and viruses) are responsible for severe crop losses. Insects feed directly on the plant tissues, while the pathogens lead to damage or death of the plant.
