Table_1_Discovery of Alpha-Gal-Containing Antigens in North American Tick Species Believed to Induce Red Meat Allergy.xlsx

open access: yes, 2019
Development of specific IgE antibodies to the oligosaccharide galactose-α-1, 3-galactose (α-gal) following tick bites has been shown to be the source of red meat allergy. In this study, we investigated the presence of α-gal in four tick species: the lone-

Alpha Gal in the Preoperative Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Background: Alpha gal syndrome (AGS) is an allergy acquired from the bite of the lone star tick. This allergy manifests as a sensitivity to red meat, medicines, and implants derived from mammalian sources.

Single‐cell Transcriptome Profiling Reveals Gene Regulatory Networks and Key Genes in the Root Epidermis and Cortical Cells Associated with Early Nodulation in Glycine Max

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics of soybean roots soon after rhizobial inoculation reveals epidermal and cortical cell‐specific programs and gene‐regulatory networks acting in symbiosis establishment. We identify an ethylene‐driven regulatory circuit involving WRKY6.3/6.4 transcription factors targeting select Nod19 genes that promotes infection‐thread ...

Molecular Factors Involved in Tick-Bite Mediated Allergy to the Carbohydrate Alpha-Gal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Red meat allergy aka α-Gal allergy is a delayed allergic response occurring upon consumption of mammalian meat and by-products. Patients report eating meat without any problems for several years before developing the allergy.

Alpha-Gal-containing biologics and anaphylaxis

open access: yesAllergology International, 2019
Cetuximab, the IgG1 subclass chimeric mouse-human monoclonal antibody biologic that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), is used worldwide for the treatment of EGFR-positive unresectable progressive/recurrent colorectal cancer and head ...

TPI1 Loss Triggers a Metabolite‐Driven Mitochondrial Redox Vulnerability via the SARM1–cADPR–Ca2+ Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolite‐driven redox stress governs cancer cell senescence. TPI1 deficiency elevates DHAP, initiating SARM1‐dependent cADPR‐Ca2+ release. Mitochondrial ROS surge subsequently induces DNA damage and senescence, offering a conserved therapeutic target in multiple cancers.

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Identification of Alpha-Gal glycolipids in saliva of Lone-Star Tick (Amblyomma americanum)

open access: yesTicks and Tick-Borne Diseases
Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) is a delayed allergic reaction triggered by IgE antibodies targeting galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-gal), prevalent in red meat.
