Neurokinin‐1 receptor activation protects against cardiac fibrosis, inflammation and diastolic dysfunction in type 2 diabetic mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose The pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)‐induced cardiomyopathy involves cardiac fibrosis that leads to diastolic dysfunction. We established that replacement of lost substance P (SP) that occurs in T2DM reduces cardiac fibrosis and decreases inflammation in T2DM mice and non‐human primates.

ADSC‐Derived CCL8 Regulates HIF‐1α Signaling and Promotes Colorectal Cancer Progression in a 3D Coculture Platform

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration showing how CRC‐associated ADSC‐derived CCL8 promotes colorectal cancer cell migration through ERK/HIF‐1α signaling in a 3D coculture platform. ABSTRACT This study aimed to recapitulate adipose‐tumor interactions within the colorectal cancer (CRC) tumor microenvironment (TME) and to elucidate the role of adipose‐derived stem ...

Expression and characterization of recombinant α-galactosidase from rice

open access: yes, 2010

High Uric Acid Promotes Stem Leydig Cell Senescence by CCDC90B Mediates Mitochondrial Quality Control Imbalance

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
In hyperuricemia, uric acid inhibits CCDC90B ubiquitination degradation by binding to it. Excessive CCDC90B induces mitochondrial calcium overload, leading to mitochondrial quality control imbalance and ultimately resulting in SLC senescence and decreased testosterone levels.

Junctional Adhesion Molecule‐A (JAM‐A) Associates With High‐Risk Disease in Multiple Myeloma Patients and a Structure‐Based Rationally‐Designed Peptide Inhibitor Attenuates Tumorigenic Features In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable malignancy of terminally‐differentiated plasma cells that represents a major clinical challenge despite unprecedented therapeutic advances, particularly for patients with cytogenetically‐defined high‐risk MM (HR‐MM).

Cryo‐EM structure of GH43 β‐Xylosidase from Enterobacter cloacae provides insights into substrate specificity and the role of an auxiliary domain in enzymatic activity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Xylan, the second most abundant plant cell wall polysaccharide, is degraded by β‐xylanases and β‐xylosidases. Here, we present the 2.65 Å cryo‐EM structure of Enterobacter cloacae β‐xylosidase (EcXyl43, GH43) and the 2.4 Å X‐ray structure of its inactive F507A mutant.

Molecular dynamics simulations elucidate the misfolding mechanisms of secretion‐defective pancreatic lipase variants

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Misfolding mutations in pancreatic lipase have been identified as potential contributors of chronic pancreatitis, an inflammatory disease of the human pancreas. Here, we describe the effect of these misfolding mutations on pancreatic lipase structure using molecular dynamics simulations and structural modeling.
