Integrated Assessment of Lipid Oxidation and Off‐Flavor Formation in Plant Protein Powders

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Impact of residual lipids on oxylipin and off‐flavor formation in commercial plant proteins: A detailed analysis of precursor‐product relationships by GC‐FID, LC‐MS/MS, and GC‐MS. ABSTRACT The widespread adoption of plant proteins is hindered by their inherent off‐flavors, often linked to lipid oxidation products.

Integrated Transcriptomic and Metabolomic Analyses Reveal Key Responses of Cotton to Salt Stress Post-Germination

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Salt stress is a major environmental constraint that severely limits cotton seed germination. However, the regulatory mechanisms governing salt stress responses during the post-germination stage remain largely unclear.

Effect of diet on linoleic acid desaturation and on some enzymes of carbohydrate metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1970
The effect of diet on the desaturation of linoleic acid to gamma-linolenic acid by liver microsomal preparations, on blood glucose and insulin levels, and on activities of glucokinase, hexokinase, pyruvate kinase, and alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase

A transgenic Camelina sativa seed oil effectively replaces fish oil as a dietary source of eicosapentaenoic acid in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Fish currently supplies only 40% of the eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) required to allow all individuals globally to meet the minimum intake recommendation of 500 mg/d.

A Fast Method for Selecting Bio Sourced Materials of Interest in a Candle Formulation

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As consumer demand shifts towards more sustainable and nontoxic alternatives, the candle industry is exploring unconventional bio‐based and recycled materials as substitutes for paraffin. Four raw materials, that is rice bran wax (RBW), sugarcane wax (SCW), hydrogenated rapeseed oil (HRO), and waste cooking oil (WCO) were assessed based on ...

Integrated physiological, metabolomic, and transcriptomic analyses reveal the differential molecular mechanisms underlying cadmium stress responses in two Codonopsis pilosula cultivars

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Codonopsis pilosula, a widely cultivated medicinal plant, is frequently contaminated with cadmium (Cd) during growth. To elucidate Cd accumulation and tolerance mechanisms, we simulated Cd stress via hydroponics and analyzed physiological/multi-omics ...

Metabolomic analysis by UAE-GC MS and antioxidant activity of Salvia hispanica (L.) seeds grown under different irrigation regimes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) is an emerging crop with a high content of α-linolenic acid and metabolites of industrial and pharmaceutical interest but information on metabolome variations in response to agricultural management is scarce.

Mesopelagic Fish as a Promising New Source of Omega‐3 Fatty Acids in Comparison With Australian Commercial Seafood

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global dietary guidelines consistently recommend regular seafood consumption to support adequate omega‐3 long‐chain (≥ C20) polyunsaturated fatty acid (n‐3 LC‐PUFA) intake. Most international health authorities advise two servings of seafood per week, including at least one serve of oily fish, to achieve approximately 500 mg/day of combined ...

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

DHA-rich oil modulates the cerebral haemodynamic response to cognitive tasks in healthy young adults: a near IR spectroscopy pilot study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The impact of dietary n-3 PUFA on behavioural outcomes has been widely researched; however, very little attention has been given to their impact on brain functioning in physiological terms.
