Neuronal THY1 Signaling Maintains Astrocytes in a Quiescent State

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
THY1‐bearing neurons keep astrocytes in a quiescent state via the interaction with ITGB1. Depletion of THY1 supports the development of a partially activated astrocyte phenotype. Neuronal THY1 is involved in the maintenance and restoration of tissue homeostasis in the brain. ABSTRACT THY1 is a cell surface protein of mature neurons.

Research progress on the role of inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of epilepsy

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 44-58, Spring 2025.
In the central nervous system, activated immune cells lead to the overproduction of inflammatory mediators through the corresponding signal pathway. Under the stimulation of inflammatory factors, neuroinflammation ultimately occurs. Overexpression of inflammatory mediators and activated immunocytes plays an important role in the emergence and ...

Inhibitory effect of Scutellaria pinnatifida Extracts on the Alpha synuclein Cytotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants, 2019
Many of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are associated with formation of the protein aggregates called amyloidal fibrils. Fibrillization of alpha-synuclein seems to be a key stage in the creation and progression of NDs and finding the compounds that ...

Progress of non‐motor symptoms in early‐onset Parkinson's disease

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This study reviews the research progress related to non‐motor symptoms (NMS) in patients with early onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD), including neuropsychiatric symptoms, autonomic dysfunction, sleep disorders, and sensory disorders and also summarizes the characteristics of NMS in the genetic form of Parkinson's disease (PD).

Direct Detection of Viruses Using Antibody‐Modified Gold Nanorods

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
Gold nanorods functionalized with pathogen‐specific antibodies can be used for the confirmatory detection of viruses via dynamic light scattering–based analysis of particle sizes. ABSTRACT Seasonal and sporadic viral infections put enormous burdens on global health and society. Although polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and other molecular approaches can
