Lipid Peroxides and α-Tocopherol in Rat Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Mellitus [PDF]
Measurement of lipid peroxides and alpha-tocopherol was undertaken in rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes. In sera and livers in diabetic rats, the lipid peroxides increased but alpha-tocopherol decreased.

Scientific Opinion on the safety and efficacy of synthetic alpha-tocopherol for all animal species [PDF]
<p>The additive synthetic alpha-tocopherol consists of pure all-rac-alpha-tocopherol. In a previous opinion on the safety and efficacy of vitamin E for all animal species, the FEEDAP Panel assessed the safety of the acetate ester of the additive ...

Tocopherols in Cultivated Apple Malus sp. Seeds: Composition, Variability and Specificity
The seeds of 111 Malus sp. different fruit use (dessert and cider apples) cultivars/genotypes developed in 18 countries were analysed to evaluate composition of tocopherol homologues and identify crop-specific profile, including diploid, triploid, and ...

The uptake of tocopherols by RAW 264.7 macrophages
Background Alpha-Tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol are the two major forms of vitamin E in human plasma and the primary lipid soluble antioxidants. The dietary intake of gamma-tocopherol is generally higher than that of alpha-tocopherol.

Introduction: Fat intake during lactation may modify the concentration of vitamin E in human milk, probably because both nutrients are fat soluble and also share similar pathways of distribution, metabolism and molecular action. It is known that the high

Effects of glutathione on the alpha-tocopherol-dependent inhibition of nuclear lipid peroxidation.
Endogenous alpha-tocopherol levels in isolated rat liver nuclei were determined to be 0.045 mol% (mol alpha-tocopherol per mol phospholipid x 100).

Oxidative stress stimulates alpha-tocopherol transfer protein in human trophoblast tumor cells BeWo [PDF]
alpha-Tocopherol transfer protein (alpha-TTP) has been identified as the major intracellular transport protein for the antioxidant vitamin E (alpha-Tocopherol).

Alpha-tocopherol exerts protective function against the mucotoxicity of particulate matter in amphibian and human goblet cells [PDF]
Exposure to particulate matter (PM) in ambient air is known to increase the risk of cardiovascular disorders and mortality. The cytotoxicity of PM is mainly due to the abnormal increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which damage cellular components ...
