The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Alternative Metrics Approach To Croatian Oa Journals

open access: yes, 2015
There are many ways in which today's readers can express their interest, positive attitude, acknowledgment or tribute to the specific online article. One of the traditional way is to put the article in the reference list, e.g. to cite it in own article.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Five recommendations for using alternative metrics in the future UK Research Excellence Framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Although many are excited by the possibilities for using alternative metrics to supplement research assessment, others are concerned about the ease with which the figures can be gamed.

Metrics for matrix-valued measures via test functions

open access: yes, 2014
It is perhaps not widely recognized that certain common notions of distance between probability measures have an alternative dual interpretation which compares corresponding functionals against suitable families of test functions.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

On the potential for alternative greenhouse gas equivalence metrics to influence sectoral mitigation patterns

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2013
Equivalence metrics used to quantify the relative climate impacts of different atmospheric forcers serve an essential function in policy and economic discussions about global climate change.

Recommending Refactoring Solutions Based on Traceability and Code Metrics

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Software refactoring has been extensively used to rectify the design flaws and improve software quality without affecting its observable behaviors. For a given code smell, it is common that there exist multiple refactoring solutions.

Einstein's Equations and a Cosmology with Finite Matter

open access: yes, 2015
We discuss various space-time metrics which are compatible with Einstein's equations and a previously suggested cosmology with a finite total mass. In this alternative cosmology the matter density was postulated to be a spatial delta function at the time
