Metal nanoring and tube formation on carbon nanotubes [PDF]
Phys. Rev. B 66, 045409 (2002), 2002The structural and electronic properties of aluminum covered single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT) are studied from first-principles for a large number of coverage. Aluminum-aluminum interaction that is stronger than aluminum-tube interaction, prevents uniform metal coverage, and hence gives rise to the clustering.

Comparative study of the growth of sputtered aluminum oxide films on organic and inorganic substrates [PDF]
, 2007We present a comparative study of the growth of the technologically highly relevant gate dielectric and encapsulation material aluminum oxide in inorganic and also organic heterostructures. Atomic force microscopy studies indicate strong similarities in the surface morphology of aluminum oxide films grown on these chemically different substrates.

Theoretical Study of Hydrogenated Tetrahedral Aluminum Clusters [PDF]
Int. J. Quant. Chem. 111, 14, 3548-3555 (2011), 2011We report on the structures of aluminum hydrides derived from a tetrahedral aluminum Al4 cluster using ab initio quantum chemical calculation. Our calculation of binding energies of the aluminum hydrides reveals that stability of these hydrides increases as more hydrogen atoms are adsorbed, while stability of Al-H bonds decreases.
