The Potential of Acousto-Ultrasonic Techniques for Inspection of Baked Carbon Anodes

open access: yesMetals, 2016
High quality baked carbon anodes contribute to the optimal performance of aluminum reduction cells. However, the currently decreasing quality and increasing variability of anode raw materials (coke and pitch) make it challenging to manufacture the anodes

Localized approach to galvanic coupling in an aluminum–magnesium system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The corrosion behavior of a pure aluminum/pure magnesium couple in a weakly conductive sodium sulfate solution was investigated. Potential and current distributions on the surface of the model couple at the beginning of immersion were obtained by solving

Optimal scheduling model of microgrid based on improved dung beetle optimization algorithm

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering
In view of the strong uncertainty and intermittency of distributed power sources in microgrids and the shortcomings of the traditional dung beetle optimizer (DBO) algorithm with slow convergence, poor robustness and ease of falling into a local optimum ...

Mass spectrometric and first principles study of Al$_n$C$^-$ clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study the carbon-dope aluminum clusters by using time-of-flight mass spectrum experiments and {\em ab initio} calculations. Mass abundance distributions are obtained for anionic aluminum and aluminum-carbon mixed clusters. Besides the well-known magic

Preparation of Aluminum Nitride/Aluminum Composites by Nitridation of Aluminum

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 1993
AlN/Al composites were prepared by the nitridation of Al-MgO (0-7.5wt%) powder compacts at 1100-1400°C. The dense composite layer grew outward from the bottom surface of the powder compact at 1250-1400°C. The conversion of Al to AlN and the thickness of the composite increased with increasing content of MgO, reaction temperature and time.
