Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Assessment of chromate and chromate-free conversion coatings for the corrosion protection of aerospace aluminum alloy [PDF]
Aerospace aluminum alloys, especially the most commonly used AA 2024 T3 alloy is often susceptible to corrosion in chloride containing environment. These alloys are phase separated, highly complex metal-in-metal composites and tend to have weakness ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Mixed-mode growth of a multicomponent precipitate in the quasi-steady state regime
An exact analytical solution of the Fick’s second law was developed and applied to the mixed-mode growth of a multicomponent ellipsoidal precipitate growing with constant eccentricities in the quasi-stationary regime. The solution is exact if the nominal

Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.
