GENETIC VARIABILITY OF SPRING COMMON WHEAT VARIETIES IN ALUMINUM TOLERANCE

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2015
Spring common wheat varieties display broad genotypic diversity in response to the stress impact of aluminum ions. The investigated set of varieties contained no sensitive ones.

Molecular approaches unravel the mechanism of acid soil tolerance in plants

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2013
Acid soil is a worldwide problem to plant production. Acid toxicity is mainly caused by a lack of essential nutrients in the soil and excessive toxic metals in the plant root zone.

Bioinspired Adaptive Surfaces for Intelligent Liquid Manipulation: Progressing From Passive and Active to Hybrid Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Aluminum Effects on Calcium Fluxes at the Root Apex of Aluminum-Tolerant and Aluminum-Sensitive Wheat Cultivars [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1992
The role of Ca(2+) transport in the mechanism of Al toxicity was investigated, using a Ca(2+)-selective microelectrode system to study Al effects on root apical Ca(2+) fluxes in two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars: Al-tolerant Atlas 66 and Al-sensitive Scout 66.

Tolerance of Muslim beliefs and practices: Age related differences and context effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Tolerant judgments of Muslims’ political rights and dissenting beliefs and practices by ethnic Dutch adolescents (12–18 years) were examined. Participants (N = 632) made judgments of different types of behaviors and different contexts in an experimental ...

Soft Skins With Reversible Thickness Morphing: Materials, Mechanisms, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Evolution of electronic skin (e‐skin) technologies toward adaptive, multifunctional soft skins. Phase I highlights early rigid and discrete sensory interfaces. Phase II shows the transition toward flexible, stretchable, and large‐area e‐skin. Phase III captures the emergence of computational e‐skin.

Isolation and Characteristics of Acid- and Aluminum-tolerant Bacterium

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1994
A screening was attempted to isolate microorganisms that tolerate high concentrations of H+ and ionic aluminum in acidic soils. A new microorganism that can grow in the presence of a high concentration of Al3+ at low pH was isolated from acidic tea fields. The microorganism, designated strain ST-3991, has been identified as a Flavobacterium sp.

On the crucial influence of some supporting electrolytes during electrocoagulation in the presence of aluminum electrodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The influence of some supporting electrolytes on aluminum electrode oxidation and pH variation during electrocoagulation of an unskimmed milk sample and a cutting oil emulsion has been investigated.

Hydrophobic MFI‐Type Zeolites via Alkali‐Cation‐Induced Defect Healing: Implications for Adsorbent and Catalyst Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sub‐stoichiometric amounts of Na+ or K+ enhance defect healing during Silicalite‐1 (MFI) and TS‐1 calcination by promoting Si–O–Si annealing and healing framework vacancies. The resulting defect‐free zeolites are more hydrophobic and show improved butanol/water separation and improved activity and selectivity in the epoxidation of 1‐hexene, offering a ...

GhMATE1 expression regulates Aluminum tolerance of cotton and overexpression of GhMATE1 enhances acid soil tolerance of Arabidopsis

open access: yes, 2020
The ionic form of Aluminum (Al3+) is one of the dangerous metals to the plants under acid soil condition. A principal functional tool of plant Al tolerance encompasses Al-induced stimulation of membrane transporters, which accelerates the organic acid ...
