CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)

Energy Challenges and Conservation Achievements in the Aluminum Industry

open access: yes, 1979
Energy is a vital resource in the production of aluminum. It is economically essential that producers use it efficiently. The aluminum industry developed historically in an economy of energy surplus or abundance.

Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

A WRKY transcription factor confers aluminum tolerance via regulation of cell wall modifying genes.

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2019
Modification of cell wall properties has been considered as one of the determinants that confer Al tolerance in plants, while how cell wall modifying processes are regulated remains elusive. Here, we present a WRKY transcription factor WRKY47 involved in

Understanding plant tolerance to aluminum: exploring mechanisms and perspectives

open access: yesPlant and Soil
Aluminum (Al) is the third, most abundant element in the Earth's crust. When soil pH drops below 5.5, Al is released from minerals, which threatens plant growth.

Out‐of‐Plane Strain‐Decoupled Architecture for High‐Fill‐Factor Stretchable OLED Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically decoupled multilayer SOLED architecture separates emissive pixel islands from deformable interconnects, allowing low‐modulus elastomeric layers to accommodate applied strain and suppress strain transfer to the OLED region. This design, combined with transparent hybrid encapsulation, enables a high fill factor (∼75%), stretchability ...
