Isolable Cysteine Sulfenyl Iodide: Stabilization by a Molecular Cradle, Crystal Structure, and Biologically Relevant Reactivity. [PDF]

open access: yesChembiochem
An isolable cysteine sulfenyl iodide (Cys–SI) stabilized by a molecular cradle is reported. X‐ray analysis and reactivity studies reveal hydrolysis to sulfenic acid, electrophilic substitution with indoles, and high reactivity toward amines and dimedone, providing direct evidence for long‐standing proposals on iodine‐mediated protein modification ...

Unraveling the Carcinogenic Mechanisms of Food Contaminants: An Integrated in Silico Framework Combining Network Toxicology, Machine Learning, and Molecular Docking. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Food Sci
ABSTRACT Food contamination poses a significant global health threat with carcinogenic potential, though the molecular pathways connecting contaminants to cancer remain poorly understood. This study sought to identify key molecular targets mediating the carcinogenic effects of nine prevalent dietary contaminants: glyphosate, perfluorooctane sulfonate ...

A therapeutic oxygen carrier isolated from Arenicola marina decreases amanitin-induced hepatotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceThe amanitins (namely α- and β-amanitin) contained in certain mushrooms are bicyclic octapeptides that, when ingested, are responsible for potentially lethal hepatotoxicity.

In vivo and in vitro α-amanitin metabolism studies using molecular networking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceAmanitin poisonings are among the most life-threatening mushroom poisonings, and are mainly caused by the genus Amanita. Hepatotoxicity is the hallmark of amanitins, powerful toxins contained in these mushrooms, and can require ...

Iodine-Mediated Tryptathionine Formation Facilitates the Synthesis of Amanitins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Synthetic methods on the macrocyclization of peptides are of high interest since they facilitate the synthesis of various types of potentially bioactive compounds, e.g. addressing targets like protein–protein-interactions.

Erdosteine reduces cytotoxicity induced by alpha- and beta-amanitin, but not gamma-amanitin, in CA3 hepatocyte cultures

open access: yesToxicon, 2022
Amanitin poisoning still has no particular, effective antidote. Erdosteine has been shown to protect numerous tissues, particularly those in the liver. This study investigates the potential therapeutic effects of erdosteine on alpha-, beta- and gamma-amanitin-induced hepatotoxicity in in vitro models.

Über die Inhaltsstoffe des grünen Knollenblätterpilzes, XXXVIII. Die Konstitution von ϵ-Amanitin und Amanullin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
