Biology of Amaranthus retroflexus and Amaranthus viridis [PDF]
Amaranthus species are a key risk to farm production, biodiversity, and agriculture economics of more than 80 countries across the world. A. retroflexus and A. viridis are among the most noxious Amaranthus species. The current information available on the biology these species in Australian agroecosystem is not enough for suitable management ...

Uptake of 134Cs in the shoots of Amaranthus tricolor and Amaranthus cruentus
Environmental Pollution, 2003Amaranthus tricolor L. and Amaranthus cruentus L. were grown in pots containing 7.5 kg soils artificially contaminated with three levels of 134Cs activity: 5.55 x 10(5) Bq pot-1, 1.11 x 10(6) Bq pot(-)1, and 1.665 x 10(6) Bq pot(-1), respectively. Forty-nine days after sowing and growth, plants were harvested.

Study on genetic diversity in Amaranthus (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.)
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PLANT SCIENCESGrain amaranth is a protein rich psuedocereal, assumes an important position in terms of quality breeding activities. Systematic characterization, evaluation and utilization of the potential genotype in the crop are prerequisite to any crop improvement. Genetic diversity study was conducted in one hundred fifty genotypes using Mahalanobis D2 Statistics

Phytochrome in seeds of Amaranthus caudatus
Planta, 1969Dry seeds of Amaranthus caudatus show little or no photoreversible absorption changes, attributable to phytochrome. During imbibition phytochrome appears in two phases, one immediately after sowing and the second after about 8 hr. Experiments at different temperatures and under continuous illumination with red, far-red and blue light suggest that there

Pest Management Science, 2001
AbstractSuspected imazaquin‐resistant accessions of Amaranthus palmeri were studied to determine the magnitude of resistance and cross‐resistance to acetolactate synthase (ALS)‐inhibiting herbicides and compare differential tolerance of A palmeri and Amaranthus hybridus to ALS inhibitors.

The in vivo properties of Amaranthus phytochrome
Planta, 1969Phytochrome has been measured in etiolated seedling of Amaranthus caudatus. The phytochrome content increases from the time of germination until 72 hr from sowing, after which it remains constant at 27.5x10(-3) Δ (ΔOD) units per 200 seedlings. After a saturating dose of red light P fr decays in the dark to a form not detectable photometrically.

Aneusomaty in glyphosate-resistant Amaranthus palmeri and its hybrid with Amaranthus tuberculatus
Genes & GenomicsGlyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl) Glycine], commonly known as Roundup, is one of the most widely used herbicides for controlling crop weeds. However, its extensive use has led to the rapid evolution of glyphosate-resistant (GR) weed populations, often via amplification of the target gene EPSPS (5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase), sometimes ...
