Amaranthus retroflexus transgenic plants for phytoremediation

open access: yesAbstract book of the 2nd International Scientific Conference "Plants and Microbes: the Future of Biotechnology" PLAMIC2020, 2020
Amaranthus retroflexus was transformed with the pph6 gene encoding the synthesis of a metal-binding peptide, which on average increased plant resistance to Cd and Ni by 15%, the accumulation of heavy metals in plants increased by an average of 25%.

Biological screening of Amaranthus retroflexus L. (Amaranthaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Farmacognosia, 2009
Bioassays are required for the determination of the total toxicity of Amaranthus retroflexus L. (Amaranthaceae) or "redroot pigweed". Therefore, the plant extract has been tested for bioactivity in Artemia salina and cytotoxicity against bovine kidney cells. The LD50 values for Artemia salina were measured at 1700 ppm.

Structure of the Pericarp in Some Amaranthus L. (Amaranthaceae) Species and Its Taxonomic Significance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In order to determine their taxonomic significance, 10 pericarp structure characters were scored for 21 Amaranthus L. taxa. In many, pericarp patterns permit recognition of the taxa as species. Differences between cultivated taxa and their wild relatives

Harnessing benzamides as plant stress inhibitors, growth promoters and in management of crop resilience—A review

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Benzamides boost crop resilience by inhibiting poly(ADP‐ribose) polymerase (PARP) to enhance stress tolerance and, through their antimicrobial, herbicidal, and insecticidal derivatives, they offer broad protection for sustainable crop improvement. Abstract Benzamides have emerged as potent stress inhibitors and growth promoters in plant biotechnology ...

Differential response of Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri) seed germination and seedling emergence under variable environmental conditions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri S. Watson) is a eudicot weed that is considered as one of the most problematic weed species. It is reported to overcome several environmental and management stresses under field conditions. Research was conducted in a growth chamber and greenhouse to evaluate the effects of different stress parameters such ...
