Low Risk of Indirect Crop Damage From Low‐Energy Electric Weeding of White Goosefoot (Chenopodium album) and White Mustard (Sinapis alba)

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 66, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Agriculture's reliance on herbicides and tillage must be reduced. Electrical weed control could be an alternative, especially if it can be used in both the inter‐row and intra‐row. However, there is a lack of studies on the risk of indirect damage when using electrical weed control near crop plants. To address this knowledge gap, three outdoor

De Novo Design and Synthesis of Novel Benzoxazinone Derivatives Targeting Dihydroxyacid Dehydratase

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 2, Page 567-581, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Dihydroxyacid dehydratase (DHAD), a key enzyme in the branched‐chain amino acid (BCAA) synthesis pathway, is a promising herbicide target. Currently, no commercial herbicides target DHAD, and no inhibitors are in development. Structural analysis suggests that coordination with iron–sulfur clusters and hydrophobic interactions with Tyr215 and ...

Summer cover crops impact weed biomass and C and N acquisition

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Despite the potential to improve nutrient cycling, weed suppression, and system resilience, mixed‐species cover crops remain underutilized in organic irrigated systems. This study evaluated the influence of cover crop diversity and associated weeds on biomass production (both cover crops and weeds), as well as carbon (C) and nitrogen (N ...

Chloroplast membrane alterations in triazine-resistant Amaranthus retroflexus biotypes [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1979
The effectiveness of diuron, atrazine, procyazine, and cyanazine were compared in controlling growth of redroot pigweed ( Amaranthus retroflexus L.) in hydroponic culture. A very marked differential inhibition response was observed for atrazine between resistant and susceptible biotypes.
