Nanowire Growth for Sensor Arrays [PDF]
A design concept for nanowire-based sensors and arrays is described. The fabrication technique involves electrodeposition to directly grow nanowires between patterned thin film contact electrodes. To prove our concept, we have electrodeposited 1-mm diameter Pd single wires and small arrays.

This review examines the critical role of neighboring active motifs in heterogeneous catalysts, emphasizing how their synergistic cooperativity can be rationally designed to modulate catalytic properties. The discussion centers on the modulation of electronic and geometric structures, categorizing the catalytic systems into metal‐acid (Brønsted/Lewis ...

Abstract Unspecific Peroxygenases have been the subject of a lot of research in the recent past as they offer opportunities for green hydroxylation reactions using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as donor. A striking problem of UPOs is their low stability against their own co‐substrate H2O2. In order to prevent the deactivation, we developed an enzyme cascade

Supramolecular Gels as Active Tools for Reaction Engineering
The unique combination of environments within gels, self‐assembled from low‐molecular‐weight gelators, offers the ability to control reactivity in new ways, achieving unique reaction outcomes, leading to the emerging concept of supramolecular gels as nanoreactors. Smart chemical engineering methods enable the use of such gels to fabricate materials and

Insights into the structure and dynamics of lysyl oxidase propeptide, a flexible protein with numerous partners [PDF]
Lysyl oxidase (LOX) catalyzes the oxidative deamination of lysine and hydroxylysine residues in collagens and elastin, which is the first step of the cross-linking of these extracellular matrix proteins.

Copper amine oxidases catalyze the oxidative deamination and hydrolysis of cyclic imines
Little is known about the degradation pathway of cyclic imines that are frequently found in bioactive secondary metabolites. Here, the authors found and characterised a copper amine oxidase, HarA that catalyses a ring-opening reaction of cyclic imine in ...

Endothelial cell-derived SSAO can increase MLC20 phosphorylation in VSMCs
Vascular hyporesponsiveness in the shock decompensation period is an important factor leading to death. Myosin light chain 20 (MLC20) is the main effector protein that regulates vascular reactivity.

Abstract α‐Chiral amines are versatile building blocks for the asymmetric synthesis of optically pure high‐added‐value chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Herein, we report a one‐pot, two‐step sequential deracemization of racemic sec‐alcohols to optically enriched primary amines throught a photo‐biocatalytic ...
