2,4-Diamino-3-methylbutanoic acid, a novel amino acid in root nodule hydrolysates from Lotus tenuis

Phytochemistry, 1981
Abstract The novel amino acid 2,4-diamino-3-methylbutanoic acid has been identified in nodules formed by two strains of Rhizobium bacteria on Lotus tenuis roots. Retention time measurements on a Chirasil-Val capillary column suggest it is present as the (2 R ,3 S )-enantiomer.

Stereoselective synthesis of α,γ-diamino-β-hydroxy amino acid esters: a new class of amino acids

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, 1990
Abstract Isocyano-acetic acid ethylester 3 undergoes a base catalyzed aldol-type addition to N,N-dibenzylamino aldehydes 6 to form oxazolines 7 stereoselectively; these can be ring-opened with NEt3, affording α,γ-diamino-β-hydroxy amino acid esters 2 .
