Changes of Essential Amino Acids in Thyropathies

Hormone and Metabolic Research, 1982
Composition of free amino acids in serum of patients with thyrotoxicosis and hypothyroidism was studied by gas chromatography. In thyrotoxicosis the level of serum amino acids, especially the essential ones and several glucogenic amino acids, increased. The reverse was found to a lesser extent in hypothyroidism.

ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS IN MICROORGANISMS

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1957
The cells of 19 species of bacteria, actinomyces, and yeasts were analyzed for protein and essential amino acids. A rapid quantitative method for amino acid determination using one-dimensional paper chromatography was developed. The cellular protein from all species contained relatively high concentrations of lysine, somewhat lower concentrations of ...

Child Stunting is Associated with Low Circulating Essential Amino Acids

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2016
BackgroundStunting affects about one-quarter of children under five worldwide. The pathogenesis of stunting is poorly understood. Nutritional interventions have had only modest effects in reducing stunting. We hypothesized that insufficiency in essential

Arginine: An Essential Amino Acid for the Cat

The Journal of Nutrition, 1978
The essentiality of arginine for the near-adult cat was demonstrated in three preliminary and two main experiments. In the pre liminary experiments, changing cats (body weights all in excess of 1.6 kg) from a purified diet containing a complete amino acid mixture (basal) to a similar isonitrogenous diet without arginine ( —Arg) caused rapid loss of ...

Glutamine: An Essential Amino Acid for the Gut

Nutrition, 1996
Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid which is produced in sufficient amount by the healthy human body. From experimental work it is known that glutamine is an important nutrient for rapidly dividing cells such as cells from the immune system and the gut. During several conditions a lack of glutamine may occur.
