Mass spectrometry of the phosphatidyl amino alcohols: detection of molecular species and use of low voltage spectra and metastable scanning in the elucidation of structure

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
The basic fragmentation mechanisms occurring in the mass spectra of the phosphatidylcholines have been described previously, and evidence was adduced to show that many of the more abundant ions are related by electron impact-induced processes.

In Vivo Evolution of Butane Oxidation by Terminal Alkane Hydroxylases AlkB and CYP153A6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Enzymes of the AlkB and CYP153 families catalyze the first step in the catabolism of medium-chain-length alkanes, selective oxidation of the alkane to the 1-alkanol, and enable their host organisms to utilize alkanes as carbon sources.

Shape‐Controlled Guanine Self‐Assemblies for Stable and Fast‐Ion Solid–Electrolyte Interphases in Sustainable Li Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The shape of guanine self‐assemblies is tuned by introducing alkyl (G8), fluoroalkyl (G8f), and oligoether (G8g) side chains into the G moiety. The scanning tunneling microscopy results and calculations show that the presence and type of the side chain strongly affect the G self‐assembly network.

Palladium-Catalyzed Selective Carbonylation Reactions of Ortho-Phenylene Dihalides with Bifunctional N,O-Nucleophiles

open access: yesMolecules
Palladium-catalyzed carbonylation reactions of ortho-phenylene dihalides were studied using aminoethanols as heterobifunctional N,O-nucleophiles. The activity of aryl-iodide and -bromide as well as the chemoselective transformation of amine and hydroxyl ...

In‐Situ Solution Complexation for n‐Type Surface‐Energetics Reconstruction in 2.0 eV Ultra‐Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive in situ solution complexation strategy reconstructs the surface of 2.0 eV ultra‐wide‐bandgap perovskites via proton transfer. This chemical modulation eliminates metallic defects and induces a degenerate‐like n‐type surface, establishing an Ohmic tunneling contact.

Dataset describing the amino acid catabolism of Thermoanaerobacter strain AK85: The influence of culture conditions on end product formation

open access: yesData in Brief, 2019
The dataset describes the catabolism of the 20 proteogenics amino acids and their end products by Thermoanaerobacter strain AK85 under different electron scavenging conditions with an emphasis on the branched-chain amino acids as reported in Scully and ...

Directed enzyme evolution: climbing fitness peaks one amino acid at a time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Directed evolution can generate a remarkable range of new enzyme properties. Alternate substrate specificities and reaction selectivities are readily accessible in enzymes from families that are naturally functionally diverse.
