Hydrogen Abstraction and Electron Transfer with Aminoxyl Radicals: Synthetic and Mechanistic Issues

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2008
AbstractAminoxyl radicals (R2NO.) are a valuable class of reactive intermediates with interesting synthetic and reactivity properties. This Minireview summarizes salient synthetic results obtained in radical oxidations using aminoxyl radicals, and then focuses on reactivity issues arising from recent literature surveys.

Stable β-phosphorylated cyclic aminoxyl radicals in SDS micelles

Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 2, 1999
The behaviour of a series of stable cyclic aminoxyl radicals in the presence of SDS micelles was studied by EPR spectroscopy. Six different compounds, i.e. two non-phosphorylated and four β-phosphorylated, were investigated. Except in the case of the strongly hydrophilic 3-CP 1, which always remained in the bulk aqueous phase, all the radicals were ...

The first organic paramagnetic metal containing the aminoxyl radical

Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2008
We have prepared an organic magnetic anion, PROXYL-4-CONHCH2SO3− (1). The electrocrystallisation of BEDT-TTF with PPh41 gave the first purely organic paramagnetic metal, β″-(BEDT-TTF)2(1). The salt shows a broad metal–insulator transition at approximately 210 K.

Reactivity of an indolinonic aminoxyl with superoxide anion and hydroxyl radicals

Free Radical Research, 1999
The increasing knowledge on the participation of free radicals in many diverse clinical and pathological conditions, has consequently expanded the search for new and versatile antioxidants aimed at combating oxidative stress. Our interest in this field concerns aromatic indolinonic aminoxyls (nitroxides) which efficiently react with alkoxyl, peroxyl ...

The Toxicity of Aminoxyl Radicals

1992
A crucial aspect of research on chemicals as potential medicines is the determination of their toxicity, which should be sufficiently low to justify pharmacological applications. First data on the toxicity of aminoxyl (nitroxyl) radicals was obtained while studying the antitumor activity of nitroxyl radicals [1] and from nitroxyl radical ...

Formation of β-fluorinated aminoxyl radicals from N-arylketonitrones

Mendeleev Communications, 2006
The reaction of XeF 2 with several N -aryl- C,C -dialkoxycarbonylnitrones affords N -aryl-β-fluorinated aminoxyl radicals in solution by an inverted spin trapping mechanism.

Intramolecular Hydrogen Bonding: The Case of β‐Phosphorylated Nitroxide (= Aminoxyl) Radical

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 2006
AbstractAlkoxyamines and persistent nitroxide (= aminoxyl) radicals are important regulators of nitroxide‐mediated radical polymerization. Since polymerization times decrease with the increasing homolysis rate constant of the CON bond homolysis between the polymer chain and the aminooxy moiety, the factors influencing the cleavage rate constant are of

Electrochemical Oxidation/Modification of Lignin Mediated By Aminoxyl Radicals

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018
Lignin is an abundant biopolymer with an aromatic backbone and offers a bio-based source of aromatic commodity chemicals upon depolymerization.[i] Oxidation methods are widely used for the deconstruction of lignin; successful examples include oxidative delignification in the pulp and paper industry and breakdown of lignin by oxidative fungal enzymes.

Organic Multifunctional Spin Systems Based on Aminoxyl Radicals

Advanced Materials, 2001
Recent advances in the development of organic multifunctional spin systems are described. This includes systems with carrier transport properties, photo-functionality, liquid crystallinity, and pressure functionality in which aminoxyl (nitroxide) radicals play a crucial roll.
