Energy-mediated versus ammonium-regulated gene expression in the obligate ammonia-oxidizing bacterium, Nitrosococcus oceani

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Ammonia serves as the source of energy and reductant and as a signaling molecule that regulates gene expression in obligate ammonia-oxidizing chemolithotrophic microorganisms. The gammaproteobacterium, Nitrosococcus oceani, was the first obligate ammonia-

Transcriptional Landscape of Ectomycorrhizal Fungi and Their Host Provides Insight into N Uptake from Forest Soil

open access: yesmSystems, 2022
Mineral nitrogen (N) is a major nutrient showing strong fluctuations in the environment due to anthropogenic activities. The acquisition and translocation of N to forest trees are achieved mainly by highly diverse ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) living in ...

Method for Reproducible Shipboard Segmented Flow Analysis Ammonium Measurement Using an In-House Reference Material for Quality Control

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Ammonium is a fundamental nutrient for phytoplankton growth in seawater and is a key component of the microbial loop. Ammonium measured in parallel with other nutrients is crucial in understanding the small temporal scale changes in oceanographic ecology.

A Multi-Species Analysis Defines Anaplerotic Enzymes and Amides as Metabolic Markers for Ammonium Nutrition

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Nitrate and ammonium are the main nitrogen sources in agricultural soils. In the last decade, ammonium (NH4+), a double-sided metabolite, has attracted considerable attention by researchers.

Endophytic Expression of nif Genes of Azoarcus sp. Strain BH72 in Rice Roots

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1999
Transcriptional fusions of gusA and gfp to the nifH gene as well as immunogold labeling with antibodies against the iron protein of nitrogenase revealed high nitrogenase gene expression levels of the endophyte Azoarcus sp.

DIFFERENT NITRATE AND AMMONIUM LEVELS MEDIA ON CHANGES OF NITROGEN ASSIMILATION ENZYMES IN RICE

open access: yesBiovalentia: Biological Research Journal, 2021
Nitrogen (N) is an important nutrient for the growth and development of rice plants, required in large quantity and often limiting factor of rice yields.

THE TORSIONAL VIBRATIONS OF THE AMMONIUM IONS IN AMMONIUM IODIDE AND AMMONIUM BROMIDE [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry Letters, 1973
Abstract The far-infrared spectra of NH4I and NH4Br have been measured at temperatures of −223 to −53 °C. The torsional vibrations of the NH4+ ions in the phase III crystalline salts were observed at 301 cm−1 for NH4I at −223 °C and at 348 cm−1 for NH4Br at −166 °C.

Metabolic and Transcriptional Profiles of Dunaliella viridis Supplemented With Ammonium Derived From Glutamine

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2018
Algal biofuel production requires an input of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer. Fertilizer synthesized via the Haber-Bosch process produces CO2 as a waste by-product and represents a substantial financial and energy investment.

order of 300 \i in width. The deflagration of all three burners appeared laminar, with a definite temperature peak above the center of the burner. The PP-COMM AP had a scalloped surface which accounted for a more unsteady appearance of the gas flow above the deflagrating AP. A yellow-green zone was visible within the SC-UHP AP extending from the burner
