ChemInform Abstract: SYNTHESIS AND AMOEBICIDAL ACTIVITY OF NEW QUINAZOLONES

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1980

Soluble amoebicidal factors mediate cytolysis of Naegleria fowleri by activated macrophages

Cellular Immunology, 1986
Murine peritoneal macrophages activated in vivo with Corynebacterium parvum or bacille Calmette-Guérin, in contrast to resident macrophages, demonstrated significant cytolysis of the amoeba, Naegleria fowleri. Catalase and superoxide dismutase, both alone and in combination, failed to inhibit cytolysis of amoebae. N.

Amoebicidal and fungicidal activities of new quinazolones.

Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1982
Eleven quinazolones were synthesized by condensing 2-phenylanthranil with a suitable peptide in pyridine. The compounds synthesized were characterised by their sharp melting points, elemental analysis and IR spectra. The newly synthesized compounds were tested for their amoebicidal and fungicidal activities.

Polyoxometalates as potent and selective inhibitors of alkaline phosphatases with profound anticancer and amoebicidal activities

Dalton Transactions, 2012
The biological significance of polyoxometalates is well renowned owing to their anticancer, antiviral and antibiotic properties. Here another therapeutic aspect of polyoxometalates has been explored as alkaline phosphatase inhibitors along with the remarked anticancer and amoebicidal properties.

Correlation of radical-scavenging capacity and amoebicidal activity of Matricaria recutita L. (Asteraceae)

Experimental Parasitology, 2017
Some Acanthamoeba strains are able to cause Granulomatous Amoebic Encephalitis (GAE) and Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) worldwide because of their pathogenicity. The treatment of Acanthamoeba infections is complicated due to the existence of a highly resistant cyst stage in their life cycle. Therefore, the elucidation of novel sources of anti-Acanthamoeba

Chemical composition and amoebicidal activity of Piper hispidinervum (Piperaceae) essential oil

Industrial Crops and Products, 2012
Abstract Acanthamoeba , a free-living protozoan widely distributed in the environment, can cause Acanthamoeba keratitis, a significant ocular microbial infection. The illness can result in blindness when not properly treated in the initial stage. Plants of the genus Piper (Piperaceae) are used in folk medicine for the antibacterial, antifungal ...

In vitro Amoebicidal Activity of some Medicinal Plants of the Bamun Region ( Cameroon)

African Journal of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicines, 2005
Fifty five medicinal plants belonging to different families selected on the basis of their traditional use against jaundice and various liver disorders were tested for their amoebicidal activities. They were extracted and tested for their antiamoebic activity in vitro using polyxenic culture of Entamoebic histolytica.

Comparative pharmacokinetics and amoebicidal activity of metronidazole and satranidazole in the golden hamster, Mesocricetus auratus

Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 1993
The pharmacokinetic properties of metronidazole and satranidazole were studied in the golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus), at a dose of 80 mg/kg po. Blood and liver samples were collected at frequent time intervals and assayed for metronidazole and satranidazole by HPLC.
